Surface Drain System—French Drain

Some call it a "Trench Drain" or "Curtain Drain", but essentially it is the same thing.

Those drains typically consist of a perforated PVC drain pipe placed in a trench, and then covered with washed drain rock. Drain rock usually is covered with filter fabric to prevent the backfilled soil from clogging the drain over time. The purpose of the system is to collect ground water, and divert it away from the property.

It is very important for the "French Drain" to be deep and wide enough, as well as installed in a proper location.
